Hi.  Thank you for your interest in The Science of Friendship Project!  You are invited to participate in our Best Friend Study. You will be asked to complete a demographic questionnaire, and up to 11 write-in questions (all write-in answers are optional). Depending on your level of participation, answering the questions may take up to 60 minutes, but as little at 10 minutes; average time to finish is about 30 minutes.

Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. There are no foreseeable risks associated with this project. However, if you feel uncomfortable answering the questions, you can leave from the survey at any point. Your responses will be strictly confidential and data from this research will be reported using a code name or pseudonym. At the end of the survey, you have the option to leave your contact information for possible follow-up contact from the researcher, Christine Brooks.  If you choose the option for further contact, you will receive an email directly from the researcher about setting up a brief (20 minute) follow-up interview to expand upon the answers you shared in this survey.  Responses to this survey may be used in part or in full in publications related to The Science of Friendship Project. If you have questions at any time about the survey or the procedures, you may contact Christine Brooks by email at

Please note: If there is no activity on the survey for more than 60 minutes, the system will time out. Please try to finish the survey in one sitting so that I can have complete data from you. I appreciate your time and contribution to this study.
